How To Create a Custom URL for your LinkedIn Profile

Have you ever wished for a sleek, personalised web address for your LinkedIn profile instead of the random string of characters assigned during the initial setup? Good news! In this “How To” guide we’ll take you through the simple steps to create your own unique public profile URL. Let’s dive into the process and explore the benefits of this customisation.

Why Customise Your URL?

  1. The initial random URL provided by LinkedIn lacks personal branding.
  2. A personalised URL enhances professionalism and increases visibility both within and outside LinkedIn.

Step 1: Understanding the Importance of a Custom URL

  1. A personalised URL looks neat and professional, making it perfect for business cards and website links.
  2. LinkedIn suggests that a customised URL improves discoverability both on the platform and on search engines like Google and Bing.

Step 2: Initiating the Change

  1. Click on the pencil symbol on “Public profile and URL” (located on the right-hand side of your LinkedIn profile).

Step 3: Customising Your URL

  1. Click on the pencil symbol next to your current URL.
  2. Input the desired name, adhering to the guidelines (3-100 letters/numbers, no spaces, symbols, or special characters).
  3. Click “Save” to confirm your new personalised URL.
  4. Make sure your desired URL is unique, or it will not allow you to save it.

Now you have your very own bespoke LinkedIn web address! Use it on business cards and witness improved search engine discoverability.
